Location: Southeast England – RAF Sector Stations\
________________________________________\
SITUATION\
\
The Luftwaffe has begun sustained daylight bombing operations against RAF Fighter Command infrastructure as part of the ongoing Battle of Britain. Intelligence indicates coordinated attacks targeting forward airfields along the southern coast, aimed at crippling RAF interception capability.\
Enemy raids consist of bomber formations escorted by Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Bf 110 fighters. These strikes are expected to approach from the south and southeast, crossing the Channel at low to medium altitude before climbing toward their targets.\
Fighter Command’s defensive system relies on rapid interception coordinated through Sector Stations using radar and ground observer reports. Timely response is critical to repel the attacks and preserve operational airfields.\
________________________________________\
AREA OF OPERATIONS\
\
Defensive responsibility is divided into three key sectors:\
\
LYMPNE SECTOR\
• Coverage: Coastal region from Rye to Folkestone\
• Primary Objective: Intercept inbound raids approaching from the western Channel approaches\
• Key Threat: bomber incursions attempting surprise attacks on Manston airfield\
\
HAWKINGE SECTOR\
• Coverage: Folkestone to Deal\
• Primary Objective: Defend RAF Hawkinge and Detling and intercept bomber formations\
• Key Threat: Heavily escorted formations targeting sector station facilities\
\
MANSTON SECTOR\
• Coverage: Sandwich to Sheerness\
• Primary Objective: Protect Manston airfield and eastern coastal approaches\
• Key Threat: Bomber formations supported by fighter escorts\
________________________________________\
MISSION\

Pilots are to:\
• Intercept inbound raids at the earliest opportunity\
• Break up bomber formations before they reach bombing run altitude\
• Protect RAF airfields and infrastructure\
• Preserve aircraft and pilot strength for sustained operations\
________________________________________\
COMMAND & CONTROL\
